NatashaNewton-December2014Elusive Muse is pleased to introduce, Natasha Newton.

I’m a full-time artist and illustrator working from my studio in Suffolk on the east coast of England. I’m lucky to live in such a beautiful place. Whether I’m walking through the heathlands, fields, forests, or along the beach, my surroundings definitely inspire my work. I have a life-long love of nature, especially birds and trees, and a fascination with astronomy and the moon – all subjects that regularly find their way into my paintings.

I’ve exhibited with many galleries throughout the UK and overseas, and my work has been selected several times for major shows including The Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolours (where I won a Winsor & Newton award for young artists), The Society of Women Artists, and the Singer and Friedlander/Sunday Times Watercolour Competition, all held at the Mall Galleries, London SW1. Four new paintings were exhibited at the Chelsea Art Fair in 2011. My work now sells to collectors worldwide with paintings in private collections in more than 20 countries. Selected originals and prints are also available through my online shop Natasha Newton Art, and you can find a list of current gallery shows by clicking here.

My art has been used by the publishing company Random House for a series of five books by the author Jorge Bucay, as well as on the front cover of Resurgence & Ecologist magazine (Jan/Feb 2014). Other commissions have included CD cover illustration, business logos, and magazine articles. Collections of my painted stones were featured in Homes & Gardens and Ideal Home magazines in the UK, and in the Summer 2014 issue of Flow magazine in The Netherlands. My work is also featured in two books due to be released in February 2015; Rock Art by Denise Scicluna and Just Add Watercolour by Helen Birch.

I’m currently in the process of setting up a new branch of my business under the name Luna + Milo. This shop will showcase a collection of contemporary handmade jewellery and wearable art. Luna + Milo was inspired by my amazing boyfriend Leon, who sadly passed away on 31st August 2014. Leon was the greatest supporter of my work – his faith and encouragement over the past few years have helped me to achieve more than I ever thought possible. His belief in me, the confidence he gave me, and the kindness he showed to others will live on in my heart every day. He was a very special man; intelligent, talented and full of ideas! I miss him so much. I chose the name Luna + Milo because Milo was his surname, and Luna because we both had an obsession with the moon! I think he’d like it.
